David Robinson
David Robinson was a basketball player for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs from 1989-2003.
The 7-1 Robinson joined the Spurs in 1989 after completing his service in the Navy - which earned him the nickname "The Admiral". His agility and strength were unmatched and he led San Antonio to the largest single season turnaround, finishing the 1989-90 season with 56 wins (after 21 the season before).
David Robinson won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1990, the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1992 and the League MVP in 1995 and accumulated some amazing statistical feats, including a career best 71 points in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers and a quadruple-double - double figures in four statistical categories.
Although Robinson and his team enjoyed remarkable success during the regular season, he always seemed to falter during the playoffs. This only changed when the Spurs added Tim Duncan in 1997 and the duo went on to win two titles (1999, 2003).
A born-again Christian, Robinson not only served his country in the military but also on the court, winning bronze with Team USA in the 1988 Olympics and gold with the Original Dream Team and Dream Team II in 1992 and 1996 respectively.
