Hugo Sánchez

Hugo Sánchez Márquez (*July 11, 1958 in Mexico City, Mexico) is a former professional soccer player. He is said to be the best Mexican player of all times.

He played twelve seasons in the Spanish Primera División, winning the Championship five times.
Sánchez was known for celebrating his goals with flic-flacs and has participated in three FIFA World Cups for his country: 1978 in Argentina (three matches), 1986 in Mexico (four matches, one goal) and 1994 in the USA (one match).


He retired as a player in 1998.


Between November 2006 and March 2008, Sánchez coached the Mexican national team, but was released due to “unsuccessfulness” then.
