Jerry Sloan
Jerry Sloan was a basketball player for the NBA's Baltimore Bullets and Chicago Bulls and is currently the coach of the Utah Jazz.
Sloan played in the NBA from 1964 to 1976 and was primarily known as a hard-nosed defender. The Bulls retired his No.4 jersey - the first player to receive that honour. After coaching the team for a couple of seasons, Sloan joined the Utah Jazz as an assistant coach. He took over the reins as head coach in 1988 and hasn't relinquished his position since - the longest-tenured coach in the League.
Sloan has seen considerable success, taking his teams to sixteen consecutive playoff appearances and two berths in the Finals (1997, 1998). Both times, the team led by Karl Malone and John Stockton fell to Sloan's old team, Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.
