Jerry West
Jerry West was a basketball player for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers. A 6-3 guard from West Virginia University, West was one of the greatest scorers in NBA history with a career average of 27 ppg. He had a highly successful career with the Lakers but - playing at the time of the Boston Celtics Dynasty - only won the NBA title once, in 1972.
West was known for his shooting prowess and in particular for his ability to deliver in the clutch. One of his brightest moments was during the 1970 NBA Finals against the New York Knicks when he hit a half-court shot at the end of Game 3 to send the game into overtime.
Following his retirement after a 14-year career, West stayed in touch with basketball, briefly coaching the Lakers and working as general manager for both the Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jerry West is also famous for being "The Logo, as the NBA's logo shows his silhouette.
