LeBron James
LeBron James has been in the spotlight from a very young age. Sports magazines hailed him as the next big thing and the potential saviour of the NBA since he was 15. Incredibly, since being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 at the age of 18 and receiving an endorsement deal with Nike reportedly worth more than 90 million dollars, LeBron James has not only fulfilled but exceeded expectations.
At 6-8/2,04m, James not only shoulders most of the scoring load but is also his teams primary ballhandler, distributor and a more than able rebounder. At any given point, LeBron appears either stronger, quicker, smarter or more skilled than his opposition and routinely receives double- and triple-teams.
James is the youngest player to average more than 30 points for a season. His most memorable moment to date came during the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals against the Detroit Pistons when – with the series tied at two games apiece – LeBron scored his teams last 25 points en route to a double-overtime victory. This season, “King” James is considered one of the leading candidates to win the MVP trophy and was already voted the MVP of the All-Star Game.
