Michael Jordan
Michael „Air“ Jordan is arguably the best player to ever play the game of basketball. A 6-6/ 1,98m shooting guard, he won the NCAA college championship with North Carolina in 1982 and was the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 1985. Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls from 1984-1993 and again from 1995-1998. He came back from retirement to play for the Washington Wizards from 2001-2003.
During his time in Chicago, Jordan turned the Bulls into the basketball dynasty of the 1990s, winning six championships (1991-92-93, 1996-97-98), ten scoring titles and being voted Most Valuable Player a record-setting five times. The 1996 Chicago Bulls also set a record with 72 wins in 82 games, besting the Los Angeles Lakers previous high of 69 wins dating to the 1972 season.
Michael Jordan’s incredible athleticism, his penchant for jaw-dropping slam dunks and ability to hit shots when the game was on the line turned him into the most popular player of his generation and a global icon. He retired with the third-most points in NBA history (32,292) and the highest scoring average (30.1).
Michael Jordan worked as general manager for the Washington Wizards and is currently a minority owner of the NBA’s expansion franchise Charlotte Bobcats.
