Kobe keeps the Lakers alive
The Los Angeles Lakers did what they had to do: The won the third match in the NBA finals to close the gap on the Boston Celtics to 1-2.
It was superstar Kobe Bryant who scored 36 points, leading his team to a 87-81 victory against the Celtics.
Besides the NBA’s Most Valuable Player, Slovenian Saša Vujačić convinced not only his home crowd in Staples Center, but also the opponents coach Doc Rivers. He scored 20 points and made Rivers sum the game up: "Kobe was fantastic, but I think, Vujačić was the key to the victory."
Anyway, the most important, but maybe also most surprising fact was that neither Kevin Garnett (13 points) nor Paul Pierce (6) got into the match. Both Boston key players totally deceived their fans’ hopes.
The next match in the evening of Thursday, June 12, will give us some more information about whether the Lakers could be able to make a real comeback from being 0-2 down.
Never before in the history of the NBA, a team in the finals best-of-seven-series managed to come from 0-3 behind and finally win the trophy. And there were even just four teams that made a successful comeback after a 0-2. The last team to do so was the Miami Heat against the Dallas Mavericks in 2006.
Let’s see what game four will bring, as the Celtics still need just two more.
