Lakers dream start to the night ends in a nightmare
The Boston Celtics are extremely close to their 17th NBA title, leading 3-1 now after beating the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the best-of-seven finals series.
In the beginning it didn’t look like this at all, that Thursday night in Staples Center. The Lakers lead 35-14 after the first quarter, 58-40 after the second quarter and still 73-71 after the third quarter.
The 30-years-old forward Paul Pierce was the best scorer for his team yesterday with 20 points and seven assists. Although playing for the Celtics for ten years now, the Californian is still sympathizing with the Lakers. That’s why Pierce wouldn’t be too "dissappointed" if his team would secure the needed fourth point straightaway on the road in L.A. next Sunday: "It would be a dream, to win that title here."
The other Boston top-scorers were Ray Allen (19 points, nine rebounds and three steals), James Posey (18 points and four threes) and Kevin Garnett (16).
The best scorer for L.A. was – no, not Kobe Bryant – forward Lamar Odom with 19 points and ten rebounds. The MVP scored 17 points and ten assists, center Pau Gasol followed with 17 points and ten rebounds.
Game 5 will be played at Staples Center on Sunday, June 15, 2008.
