WTA Tour Championships 2008

With the WTA Tour Championships 2008, the women's tennis season's finals were held in Doha (Qatar) for the first time. The Khalifa International Tennis Complex has been the venue from November 4 until 9.

The eight singles players and the four doubles pairings with the highest total of points over the whole 2008 season qualified for the WTA Tour Championships.

The "singles" competition starts as a round robin event, with four players in each of the two groups (white group and maroon group - like the colors of the Qatari flag). Each player faces the other three players in their group. The top two in each pool reach the semifinals. The semifinal winners meet in the finals.

The doubles competition is held as an elimination draw, starting with the semifinal round.
